Twelve draftees named to attend the annual draft in New York!
The league announced the twelve guest draftees that will attend the draft in New York City and hear their name called by their future team in person. The players attending are; Jerrod Johnson (QB-Texas A&M), Andrew Miller (QB-Notre Dame), Chance Wharden (QB-Tennessee), Darnell Sullivan (RB-Arizona), Jamal Weekes (WR-California), Taiwan Jones (WR-Florida), Tyson Carabo (OT-California), Michael Cote (OT-Virginia), Jonathan Jacoby (CB-Baylor), Raphael Woodson (S-Syracuse), Andre Carter (DE-Alabama), and Jacob Williams (DE-Tennessee). Foxes work out extensions for Hemingway, Burke, and Brown!
The Detroit Foxes have been known as a franchise who rarely let key players leave due to free agency, and the Foxes did just that as on Friday they worked out brand new contract extensions for linebackers Darius Hemingway, and Eli Burke, and safety Andre Brown. Hemingway's deal keeps him under contract through the 2017 season, while both Brown and Burke are signed through the 2018 season. Hemingway was the 21st pick of the 2006 draft, out of Virginia Tech. Burke, the Super Bowl XXVI mvp, was a second round pick out of Delaware. Brown was the 27th pick of the 2009 draft, out of Central Michigan. (Mar. 29, 2013)
Jay Hudson gets new two year extension with St. Louis Speed!
After more than a decade without a true franchise quarterback, the St. Louis Speed locked up their starting quarterback Jay Hudson to a brand new two year contract extension. The new deal will keep Hudson under contract through the 2015 season. Hudson's previous deal was set to expire following the upcoming 2013 season. Hudson was traded halfway through the 2011 season to St. Louis from the Baltimore Vengeance. Hudson filled in admirably in Baltimore. After being traded to St. Louis, Hudson has led the Speed to back to back 7-9 seasons. The Speed currently hold the 11th pick in the draft. (Mar. 26, 2013)
Philadelphia Crows trade Dwayne Tanner to the surging Atlantics!
On a very busy day for the Miami Atlantics they have now added middle linebacker Dwayne Tanner via trade from the Crows. In exchange for Tanner, Miami traded away their fifth round pick in this year's draft (131st overall), and their first round pick in next year's draft to the Philadelphia Crows. Tanner, who was arguably upset with the direction that the franchise was headed in following two losing seasons, and trading away defensive end Dennis Armor, was the 15th overall pick of the 2009 draft, by Philadelphia, out of USC. Dwayne Tanner was also named the defensive rookie of the year for the 2009 season. (Mar. 21, 2013)
Charlton Diggs returns to Miami as Atlantics add Kyle Shoner!
The Miami Atlantics kept adding to their impressive free agent signings as on Thursday the team re-signed veteran guard Charlton Diggs to a brand new four year deal keeping him under contract through the 2016 season. They did not stop there as the team also signed veteran free agent cornerback Kyle Shoner from the Brooklyn-New York Dukes. Shoner's deal is for two years, and will keep him under contract through the 2014 season. Miami currently holds the 3rd and 16th overall picks in next month's draft. The Miami Atlantics finished the 2012 season in last place of the AFC South with a 3-13 record. (Mar. 21, 2013)
Destroyers send Asher to Seattle in exchange for draft picks!
Just hours after signing Ken Robertson, the Seattle Storm traded for linebacker Brian Asher. In exchange for the second year linebacker, Seattle sent away both of their second round draft picks in this year's draft (50th and 55th overall), and their second round draft pick in 2014. The 55th overall pick in this year's draft was acquired from the Pittsburgh Hornets as a part of the Jonathon St. Clair trade. Asher is the son of Seattle's head coach Charles Asher. Brian Asher was the 30th overall pick of the 2012 draft, by Buffalo, out of Massachusetts. Seattle currently holds the 18th pick in this year's draft. (Mar. 18, 2013)
Las Vegas Gamblers make a splash with Mayweather and Rainer!
Over the last few seasons the Las Vegas Gamblers have slowly emerged as an up and coming team in the AFC West, and they have added two important pieces to their puzzle on Monday with the signings of free agent cornerback Ervin Rainer from the Tampa Bay Burners, and free agent safety Jerome Mayweather from the Tennessee Jackals. Rainer signed a six year deal that will keep him under contract through the 2018 season, while Mayweather signed a four year deal keeping him under contract through the 2016 season. The Las Vegas Gamblers currently hold the 15th overall pick in this year's draft. (Mar. 18, 2013)
Seattle toughens up their defense by signing Ken Robertson!
The Seattle Storm have been one of the more solid defenses over the past few seasons, and on Monday, the Storm beefed up their defensive line by signing free agent defensive end Ken Robertson from the Boston Minute Men. Robertson has been one of the tougher defensive ends in the league in the last several seasons. Robertson has led the Minute Men in sacks the last four seasons. In Seattle, Robertson will play alongside defensive tackle Andre Dunbar. Seattle finished the 2012 season in second place in the NFC West with a 9-7 record, and currently hold the 18th overall pick in this year's draft. (Mar. 18, 2013)
New Orleans Voodoo keep Drummer and give McBride extension!
The New Orleans Voodoo re-signed two of their important pieces for the future of the franchise when they came to terms on a three year contract with wide receiver Elvin Drummer, and a five year contract extension with quarterback Darren McBride. McBride was set to become a free agent following the upcoming season as he was going to become the top free agent on the market for 2013. His new deal will keep him under contract through the 2018 season. Drummer's new deal will keep him under contract through the 2015 season. Hybrids lose Bennett to Defenders then add Martin and Bell!
It has been a busy day for the Houston Hybrids. Friday started off with the defending AFC champions losing their number two wide receiver Cornelius Bennett to the Minnesota Defenders as he signed a brand new four year contract. The Defenders also helped themselves by re-signing Charles Brown to a new three year contract. Following the loss of Bennett, the Hybrids signed Craig Bell to a new two year contract from the California Dragons, and then they signed the Philadelphia Crows tight end Randy Martin to a two year contract also. Demons sure up their linebacking corps with Terkay and Walker!
The Colorado Demons made a huge free agency splash on Thursday as they signed two linebackers who were heavily rumored to be going elsewhere as they signed Adam Terkey and Daultre Walker. Terkey signed a five year deal to leave the Tennessee Jackals. Terkey was the 10th overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Tennessee, out of Notre Dame. Terkey was very actively pursued by the Atlanta Cheetahs. This is Daultre Walker's second stint in Colorado where he began his career. Walker left Colorado to sign with the Foxes before being traded to the California Dragons. Walker was heavily pursued by New York. (Mar. 14, 2013)
Areineas Webber leaves New York to join the Washington Talons!
With the New York Empires in heavy pursuit of other free agents Areineas Webber has decided to sign a contract with a division rival as Webber came to terms on a brand new four year contract with the Washington Talons. The new deal will keep him under contract through the 2016 season. This move helps the Talons in two ways as they now have a legitimate defensive end who is excellent at rushing the passer, and they also take a vital player away from the Empires. Webber was a third round pick in the 2007 draft, by New York, out of California. The Talons currently hold the first overall pick in the draft. (Mar. 14, 2013)
Dragons add to their receiving corps as they sign Trent Garland!
Trading for Dennis Armor, and David Wesley wasn't enough for the California Dragons who on Wednesday signed free agent wide receiver Trent Garland. Garland spent his entire career as a member of the Philadelphia Crows. Garland was the 22nd overall pick of the 2007 draft, by Philadelphia, out of Wake Forest. Garland played a vital role in the Crows back to back division titles in 2009 and 2010. In California, Garland will play alongside David Wesley, Delious Childs, and Jason Stevens to form a tough receiving corps. The Dragons are without a first round pick due to the trade to the Miami Atlantics for Wesley. (Mar. 13, 2013)
Dean Taurus leaves Arizona to bolster the defense in Chicago!
After a widely successful season last year in Arizona, helping transform the Scorchers into a top ten defense, linebacker Dean Taurus has turned down several offers to stay, to sign a brand new five year contract with the Chicago Enforcers. Taurus will play next to middle linebacker Tyson Everette, and with newly signed safety Jacob Wiggins. Taurus was the 12th overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Arizona, out of Nebraska. During his tenure in Arizona, Taurus has been an all pro linebacker, leading the team in tackles each season. Chicago holds the 4th, 17th, and 25th overall picks in this year's draft. (Mar. 13, 2013)
Atlantics make another big move with trade for Eric Martinez!
Quentin Frost will not be the only member of the Brooklyn-New York Dukes receiving corps to be going to the Miami Atlantics as Miami has traded for Dukes tight end Eric Martinez. The Atlantics are sending the Dukes both of their second round picks in this year's draft (35th & 48th overall), and their second round pick in next year's draft in exchange for the tight end. Martinez was the 8th overall pick of the 2007 draft, by the Dukes, out of San Diego State. Miami currently holds the 3rd and 16th overall picks in this year's upcoming entry draft. Stacey Ours becomes new quarterback for the Arizona Scorchers!
Early in the morning on Wednesday, free agent quarterback Stacey Ours signed a brand new two year contract with the Arizona Scorchers. Ours has spent his entire career with the Miami Atlantics. During his time in Miami he led the Atlantics to division titles in 2006 and 2009, and won the offensive rookie of the year award in 2003. Ours was the second overall pick of the 2003 draft, by Miami, out of Iowa. The Scorchers finished last season with an improved record of 5-12, and currently hold the 9th overall pick in this year's upcoming draft. Stacey Ours will replace the recently retired Johnny Mathis. Antonio Freemont decides to become a member of the Seattle Storm!
With the California Dragons trading for David Wesley, Antonio Freemont decided to move up north in the pacific to become the top receiver of the Seattle Storm as he signed a brand new four year contract. The new deal will keep him under contract to Seattle through the 2016 season. Freemont will join an already deep receiving corps with Andrew Martin and Stephon Hogan. Freemont and Martin were team mates in California for several seasons. Freemont was the 21st overall pick of the 2008 draft, by California, out of Texas Tech. Seattle fails to keep Jacob Wiggins as he signs with Enforcers!
After finishing contract negotiations with cornerback Lucas Williams the Seattle Storm were unable to do the same with their star safety Jacob Wiggins as he signed a new five year contract with the Chicago Enforcers. Wiggins has been a vital component in Seattle's recent success along with Williams. In Chicago, Wiggins will anchor an up and coming defense. Wiggins became expendable in Seattle with the emergence of second round draft pick Marcus Lamb. Chicago finished 2012 with a 1-15 record, and the Enforcers have three first round picks in this year's draft with the 4th, 17th, and 25th overall picks. (Mar. 12, 2013)

For the second straight season the first free agents signing is a wide receiver as Quentin Frost has left the Dukes and signed a brand new five year contract with the Miami Atlantics. The Atlantics were in need of a number one receiver following yesterday's trade that sent David Wesley to the California Dragons. Frost was the fifth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by the Brooklyn-New York Dukes, out of Washington. Frost's new deal will keep him under contract to Miami through the 2017 season. Dragons make two big trades as they acquire both Wesley and Armor!
In an effort to return the California Dragons to their past glory days, the Dragons made two huge moves on Monday as they sent their fourth round pick in this year's draft, and both their second and third round picks in 2014 and 2015 to the Philadelphia Crows in exchange for defensive end Dennis Armor. Armor began his career with the California Dragons. The Dragons were far from done though as they also sent their first round pick in this year's draft (16th overall) to the Miami Atlantics in exchange for star wide receiver David Wesley. Just hours before Tuesday's start of free agency, two of the last three defensive player of the year award winners signed brand new contracts to remain with their current teams. The defending AFC champion Houston Hybrids re-signed defensive end Jebediah Bloom to a new five year contract that will keep him under contract through the 2017 season. Bloom was the 12th overall pick of the 2007 draft, by Houston, out of Virginia Tech. Buchanan White signs four year contract to stay with San Diego!
Just hours after the Carolina Cutthroats re-signed two of their key players, the San Diego Rage did that likewise as they signed their star defensive end Buchanan White to a brand new four year contract. The new deal will keep White under contract through the 2016 season. White was the 13th overall pick of the 2007 draft, out of Oklahoma, by the Rage franchise which were playing then in San Antonio. The San Diego Rage finished the 2012 season with a 12-4 record, and won the AFC West before losing in the divisional round to Houston. The Carolina Cutthroats did not want to lose two important pieces to their future, and on Tuesday, the team locked up both Bennett James and Cutlass Adams for the future. Bennett James was scheduled to become a free agent on March 12, while Cutlass Adams was scheduled to become a free agent following next season. James was the 15th overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Carolina, out of Boise State. James finished 2012 with 1,112 rushing yards. Adams was the 8th overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Carolina, out of Oklahoma State. Carolina currently holds the 19th overall pick in this year's draft. (Mar. 5, 2013)
Milwaukee Avengers give Richard Adams an additional five years!
The current Super Bowl champions wasted no time in locking up their star quarterback for an additional five years, as on Friday, the Milwaukee Avengers signed Richard Adams to a brand new long term deal that will keep him under contract through the 2018 season. Adams was scheduled to become a free agent following this upcoming season. Adams was the first overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Milwaukee, out of Washington. Adams was vital in the Avengers rise to glory as he was named Super Bowl XXIX mvp with 341 passing yards, and two touchdowns, and also ran the ball for 40 yards, and a touchdown. (Mar. 1, 2013)

Just as two of the top safeties in free agency resign with their original teams, two of the top soon to be free agent cornerbacks do just the same on Thursday as Jimothy Houston signed a brand new four year contract to remain a member of the Kansas City Carnivores, and Tay Duggan signed a new five year contract with the New Orleans Voodoo. Duggan's new deal will keep him under contract with the Voodoo through the 2017 season, while Houston's deal will keep him under contract through the 2016 season. Two of the top safeties came off of the soon to be free agent market Wednesday night as the Baltimore Vengeance came to terms with Kareem MacKenzie on a brand new four year contract keeping him under contract through the 2016 season, and the Washington Talons came to terms with Desmond Saint on a brand new five year contract keeping him signed through the 2017 season. Kareem MacKenzie was the 27th overall pick of the 2007 draft, by Baltimore, out of Wisconsin. Desmond Saint was the 30th overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Washington, out of LSU. Jefferson Kennedy returns to Los Angeles via trade with Storm!
Just one year after leaving the Los Angeles Mustangs via free agency, wide receiver Jefferson Kennedy has been traded to the Mustangs by the Seattle Storm. Kennedy has a sub par season for the Storm, but failed to reach the lofty expectations placed on him as a legit number one receiver. Kennedy will be the featured wide receiver in the Mustangs offense. As part of the trade, the Storm will receive the Mustangs third round pick (69th overall) in this year's draft. Seattle is expected to use the extra cap space to go after one of the top wide receivers available when the free agency period begins on March 12. (Feb. 27, 2013)
League announces the full 2013 AFL regular season schedule!
The league wasted no time this offseason in releasing the regular season schedule as they did just that on Thursday. The league opens with the annual kickoff classic on Thursday, September 5 with the Detroit Foxes visiting the Super Bowl XXIX champion Milwaukee Avengers. Two days following, the AFC champion Houston Hybrids host the Baltimore Vengeance. The very first Monday night game will see Deedrich Maple's return as Atlanta will take on Washington. Dragons trade with Miami for Moore as well as sign Thurman!
In the early hours of Tuesday, the California Dragons made two big moves, both within hours of each other as they agreed to terms on a brand new four year contract with their soon to be free agent middle linebacker Baxter Thurman, keeping him under contract through the 2016 season. The Dragons also added to their linebacking corps as they traded their second round draft pick (48th overall) in this year's draft to the Miami Atlantics for linebacker Raj Moore. Cleveland Commandos sign Elliot Van Dyke to long term deal!
The Cleveland Commandos avoided losing their star left tackle Elliot Van Dyke in free agency when on Monday they signed Van Dyke to a brand new six year contract that will keep him under contract to the Commandos through the 2018 season. Van Dyke was the ninth overall pick of the 2007 draft, by Cleveland, out of Michigan. Since entering the league, Van Dyke has emerged as one of the league's top left tackles, and has made the Pro Bowl in each season he has been in the league. The Commandos finished the 2012 season with a 6-10 record, and currently hold the tenth overall pick in the upcoming draft. (Feb. 18, 2013)
Colorado Demons unveil their brand new logo at special event!
On Friday, the Colorado Demons joined the St. Louis speed and Dallas Cougars as team's that have changed their logo for the upcoming season. The new Demons logo features a more maniacal and fiercer looking demon. The team's jerseys and colors will remain the same. This is only the third logo change in the franchise's history. The unveiling was held at a special event and featured head coach Ron McDonall, Sylvester James, Monroe Johnson, Patrick Allen, Brandon Duuckoy, Carlos Rogers, Joseph Hendricks, and Neal Morris among others. Fisher remains with the Bandits while the Foxes extend Cummings!
Two teams in the NFC North made big moves on Wednesday as the Detroit Foxes agreed to a contract extension with wide receiver Clayton Cummings, and the Indianapolis Bandits signed quarterback Bruce Fisher to a one year contract. For Fisher, he has been a career journey man quarterback having played for Houston, Cleveland, San Diego, Brooklyn-New York, and Los Angeles before being traded to the Bandits last season. The Detroit Foxes new deal with Clayton Cummings will keep him under contract through the 2019 season. Cummings was scheduled to become a free agent following the 2014 season. (Feb. 13, 2013)
Speed agrees to new contracts for Jacobs, Dupri, and Mountane!
The St. Louis Speed made it their top priority to get all three pending free agents from their offensive line signed to brand new contracts before they hit the open market, and they did just that, in fact, the Speed got all three contracts finalized in just one day. On Tuesday, the Speed announced that they have signed center Michael Mountane and guard Jermaine Dupri to new five year contracts keeping them both signed through the 2017 season. The franchise also announced that they have signed left tackle Quafoe Jacobs to a new six year deal that will keep him under contract through the 2018 season. (Feb. 12, 2013)
Peachtree and Trenton get new deals from Cougars and Commandos!
On Monday, both the top quarterback and running back in this year's free agent class took their names of the list as Danny Peachtree agreed to a new four year contract with the Dallas Cougars, and Dale Trenton did the exact same with the Cleveland Commandos. Both players wiull remain under contract to their respective team through the 2016 season. With these two players off the free agency list, the top quarterback available will be Stacey Ours of Miami who will not be resigned by the Atlantics, and Bennett James, who still is negotiating with the Carolina Cutthroats on a new contract. Three team trade occurs between Foxes, Defenders, and Voodoo!
Just one day removed from the blockbuster trade involving the Jackals and Demons, the Minnesota Defenders, New Orleans Voodoo, and Detroit Foxes agreed to a huge trade of their own. The Defenders sent defensive end Allan Kripke to the Voodoo to replace recently retired Nathan Rivers. The Voodoo send their first round pick (12th overall) in this year's draft to the Foxes, while Detroit will send their second round draft pick (54th overall) to the Voodoo. Detroit also sends defensive tackle Yukon Clevinger to Minnesota. Allan Kripke also agreed to terms on a brand new five year contract with New Orleans. (Feb. 5, 2013)
Enforcers trade Gardner to Frawgs for fourth overall pick!
Just weeks after trading the first overall pick in the draft to the Washington Talons, the Chicago Enforcers have traded draft picks, and Pro Bowl center David Gardner to the Cincinnati Frawgs in exchange for the fourth overall pick in this year's draft. The Frawgs receive Gardner, the 24th and 57th picks in this year's draft, and a conditional draft pick next year. As part of the deal, the Frawgs and Gardner agree to a one year extension. Also, the Frawgs announced that they've signed their scheduled to be free agent left tackle O' Neal Thomas to a five year contract keeping him under contract through the 2017 season. (Feb. 5, 2013)
Adrian Thompson officially retires from the game of football!
Late Monday evening, following the early morning trade for running back Monroe Johnson, the Colorado Demons running back Adrian Thompson officially announced his retirement from the game of football. Thompson had a storied career having played several seasons with the Seattle Storm, Dallas Cougars, Los Angeles Mustangs, and Colorado Demons. Thompson and Elton Troy was instrumental in the resurrection of Seattle in the early 2000's, and was also key in the Dallas Cougars Super Bowl XXV title. Upon joining the Mustangs, Thompson helped lead the franchise to their only playoff appearances. (Feb. 4, 2013)
Storm send Jonathon St. Clair to Hornets for second round pick!
The Pittsburgh Hornets addressed a key issue this offseason, and that was acquiring a backup quarterback for Michael Myers when they sent their second round draft pick (55th overall) to the Seattle Storm in exchange for quarterback Jonathon St. Clair. When Myers went down with a knee injury, the Hornets went on a losing streak that ultimately cost them the AFC North division title. Jonathon St. Clair has been brought in to be the backup quarterback that the Hornets need in case this situation plays out again the upcoming season. Jackals send Morris, Johnson, and Jacobs to Demons for picks!
On Monday the Tennessee Jackals furthered their rebuilding process as they traded running back Monroe Johnson, wide receiver Ebeneezar Jacobs, and defensive tackle Neal Morris to the Colorado Demons in exchange for a huge number of draft picks. As part of the trade, the Jackals receive the Demons first round pick (29th overall), second round pick (61st overall), third round pick (93rd overall), and sixth round pick (189th overall) in the 2013 draft, and their first round, second round, and fourth round picks in the 2014 draft. The Jackals now hold seven picks in the first three rounds of this year's draft. (Feb. 4, 2013)
NFC crushes AFC in Pro Bowl as Lockhart earns game MVP honors!
At times it seemed like an unfair mismatch as the NFC used offense, defense, and special teams to defeat the AFC by the score of 62-35 to win the 2013 Pro Bowl. On defense both Shaunte Carver and Hillani Osmus forced fumbles. Donatello Harris, Brandon Duuckoy, and Pierre Rodgers all had interceptions. The game pulled away from the AFC in the second quarter when Douglas Knotts had a terrific performance looking for a second career Pro Bowl mvp, however, that bid came up short as fellow Detroit Foxes team mate, tight end Eugene Lockhart won the game's mvp with 3 touchdowns, and 128 receiving yards. St. Louis Speed unveil their brand new logo at special event!
On Friday, the St. Louis Speed held a special gala event at their practice facility where the team unveiled their brand new logo. This logo is the fifth logo in the history of the franchise. The new logo keeps the letter "S" from their previous logo, and places it in front of a black and green stretched circle that is from the franchise's first logo. The new logo features the colors black, green, and yellow, and has removed their brightish, neon green from the new logo, and jerseys. Their jerseys will remain unchanged. The St. Louis Speed are currently slotted with the eleventh overall pick in this year's entry draft. (Feb. 1, 2013)
Milwaukee Avengers win first championship at Super Bowl XXIX!
For the second straight season we were guaranteed to have a first time Super Bowl champion, and despite strong defensive performances it was the offensive leadership of Richard Adams as the Milwaukee Avengers defeated the Houston Hybrids by the score of 24-20 to win Super Bowl XXIX, and the franchise's first ever championship. Richard Adams was named mvp as he threw the ball for 341 yards, and two touchdowns, and also ran the ball for 40 yards, and a touchdown. Andre Duncan was the game's top rusher with 91 yards, and Ezekial Norton was the game's top receiver with 113 receiving yards. (Jan. 27, 2013)
Last coaching vacancy is filled as Frawgs hire Brett Munson!
Just two days after the Boston Minute Men were eliminated in the AFC championship game, offensive coordinator Brett Munson was hired and introduced as the new head coach of the Cincinnati Frawgs. Munson has been the offensive coordinator for Boston since 2011, and before that he was the team's quarterback's coach were he was responsible for developing Vance Becker. Munson will now try to do the same with Thomas Kaye in Cincinnati. Before starting his work with the Frawgs, Munson, as a part of the Boston coaching staff will be a part of the AFC staff in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. (Jan 22, 2013)
Super Bowl XXX officially announced to be played in Las Vegas!
On Monday, during Commissioner Price's annual state of the league address, as the kickoff of Super Bowl week down in Miami, Florida, it was announced that next year, Super Bowl XXX will be played in the home stadium of the Las Vegas Gamblers. This marks the second time that Las Vegas, Nevada will host the Super Bowl game. The last Super Bowl to be played in Las Vegas was just ten years earlier in Super Bowl XX when the Detroit Foxes defeated the St. Louis Speed by the score of 30-16 to win back to back Super Bowl titles. Avengers impressively punch in their ticket for the Super Bowl!
Just as the AFC champion Houston Hybrids came back to win their game earlier on Sunday, the Milwaukee Avengers did just that as they defeated the Colorado Demons on the road by the score of 28-13 to win the franchise's first ever NFC championship. The Avengers were led by an all out dominating performance by Richard Adams who threw the ball for 316 tough yards after being limited to only 56 yards in the first half. The NFC champion Avengers will now take on the AFC champion Hybrids next Sunday in Super Bowl XXIX. In week 2 the Hybrids defeated the Avengers in Houston by the score of 37-24. (Jan. 20, 2013)
Hybrids come back from seventeen to claim AFC championship!
After falling down quickly by seventeen points, the Houston Hybrids regrouped and put on an impressive showing as they fought back to defeat the Boston Minute Men by the score of 28-24 to claim the franchise's first ever trip to the Super Bowl as the AFC champions. Once again, Harold Stokes was as dominating as ever as he has not allowed an interception at all during this playoff run. Andre Duncan came up huge for the Hybrids with 123 yards, and two touchdowns. The AFC champion Hybrids will meet either the Milwaukee Avengers or the Colorado Demons in Super Bowl XXIX next Sunday. (Jan. 20, 2013)
Enforcers trade the first overall pick in the draft to Talons!
In less than a week following their elimination at the hands of the Colorado Demons, the Washington Talons were very aggressive in their pursuit of acquiring the top pick in the draft, and on Friday, they finalized the trade. The Washington Talons will send their two first round picks (24th & 25th overall), second round pick (57th overall), and third round pick (88th overall) in this year's draft, in addition to their first round and second round picks in next year's draft to the Chicago Enforcers in exchange for the rights to the first overall pick in this year's draft. Crows and Jackals swap quarterbacks Rubik and Grey in trade!
Just two weeks after being hired as the head coaches of the Tennessee Jackals and the Philadelphia Crows, Greg Bernett and longtime friend and former boss Ric Armstrong agreed to a trade that is sending Matt Grey to the Crows in exchange for Sean Rubik and the Crows second round draft pick (40th overall) in 2013 and their second round draft pick in 2014. The Jackals decision to deal Grey confirms the team's rumored interest in rebuilding the franchise. Grey led the Jackals to a championship in Super Bowl XXIV, however, he has suffered a substantial drop off over the last two seasons. (Jan. 16, 2013)

Tuesday at noon was the deadline for college underclassmen to declare for the draft. Among the notable underclassmen are; Jerrod Johnson (QB) from Texas A&M, Darnell Sullivan (RB) from Arizona, Jamal Weekes (WR) from California, Charles Hunt (WR) from Ohio State, B.J. MacIntyre (WR) from Miami, Michael Cote (OT) from Virginia, Jonathan Jacoby (CB) from Baylor, Raphael Woodson (S) from Syracuse, Lawrence Moore (ILB) from Notre Dame, Calvin Rueben (LB) from Louisville, Jacob Williams (DE) from Tennessee, and Corey Mitchell (DT) from Idaho. Bob Davison hired as new head coach of the Miami Atlantics!
Just two days after his team was eliminated from the playoffs, Bob Davison, the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Rage was hired as the new head coach of the Miami Atlantics. Davison has been the offensive coordinator of the Rage for the past two seasons, and was instrumental in the emergence of Nathanial Roberts and Manual Cardinal. Before coming to San Diego, Davison was the quarterbacks coach in New Orleans where he helped groom Darren McBride into a top quarterback. In addition, Miami introduced Kirk and Tod Alfredson as the new offensive and defensive coordinators. (Jan. 14, 2013)
Demons pull away in second quarter to dominate the Talons!
The Colorado Demons flexed their defensive and offensive muscle on Sunday evening to defeat the Washington Talons by the score of 41-28 to move on to the NFC championship game. The Demons defense held Michael Young to a total of 46 yards rushing for the game. With the win, next Sunday evening the Demons will host the Milwaukee Avengers to determine who will represent the NFC in Super Bowl XXIX. The two teams did not meet during the regular season. This marks the Demons first ever trip to the conference title game since the 2001 AFC championship that they lost to the California Dragons. (Jan. 13, 2013)
Minute Men blow lead before regaining it in closing seconds!
The Boston Minute Men went into the second half of their game with the Buffalo Destroyers with a 20-0 lead. Then with 28 seconds remaining they found themselves trailing 28-27, however, after two Vance Becker passes, the Minute Men won the game with a last second 49 yard filed goal to defeat the Destroyers 30-28, and to move on to the AFC championship for the second straight season. Last year, the Minute Men lost in Pittsburgh to the eventual Super bowl champion Hornets. The AFC championship will be a rematch from week 12 where Boston defeated the Houston Hybrids by the score of 42-24. (Jan. 13, 2013)
Harold Stokes leads Hybrids to impressive win over the Rage!
The Houston Hybrids showed the world just why they made the move right before the preseason to acquire Harold Stokes as he put on an impressive performance as the Hybrids moved on to the AFC championship with their 45-31 victory over the San Diego Rage. The game was tied at halftime, however, in the second half, Stokes displayed an a record setting performance. The Hybrids will now play in the conference title game where they will either travel to Boston to take on the Minute Men, or they will host the Buffalo Destroyers. Avengers go to NFC Championship in classic win over Foxes!
For the second straight season, the 15-1 Detroit Foxes are eliminated in a classic overtime game as they lost 38-35 in double overtime to the Milwaukee Avengers. Detroit defeated Milwaukee on two separate occasions during the regular season, however, on Saturday evening, the Avengers tough defense showed up and held Elroy Johnson in check as he ran the ball for a season low 46 yards. For the Avengers, they now move on to the franchise's first ever NFC championship game where they will travel to the winner of Sunday's game between the Washington Talons and Colorado Demons. Elton Troy and Andre Bennett both announce their retirements!
On Wednesday, both Elton Troy and Andre Bennett announced their respective retirements from the game of football. Elton Troy has spent the last several seasons in Minnesota after he was traded to the Defenders by the Colorado Demons. Troy has set several franchise records in both Minnesota and Colorado. Troy has been hired as the team's quarterback's coach. During his hall of fame career, Andre Bennett has played for Las Vegas, Minnesota, and recently with Philadelphia. Bennett has his best season in 2002 when he was a part of the Las Vegas Gamblers team that went to Super Bowl XIX in Atlanta. (Jan. 9, 2013)
Dallas Cougars unveil the team's brand new logo and colors!
On Tuesday, the Dallas Cougars held a special media event where they unveiled the team's new logo. The new logo feature a ferocious looking cougar in front of a circular background. Along with the new logo, the team will be featuring a new darker navy blue color that will be featured on their helmet, logo, and jerseys. On hand for the event were Danny Peachtree, Martin Turner, Terry Stark, Dennis Noonan, Ezekial Marion, Lamar Johnson, Harold Perth, and Tito Hernandez. The Cougars finished the season with a 7-9 record, and are currently scheduled to select thirteenth in the upcoming draft. (Jan. 8, 2013)
Chicago Enforcers hire Damon Smith as team's new head coach!
As the Chicago Enforcers brace for an offseason that they have promised will be filled with changes, they started off those major changes with the announcement that they have hired Damon Smith as the team's new head coach. Smith served as the offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Hornets from 2007-2012. Smith's offensive vision was key in the Hornets Super Bowl title last season. Along with the hiring of Smith, they have hired former Philadelphia Crows offensive coordinator Charles Greene for the same position in Chicago. Greene had been with the Crows franchise since the 2008 season. (Jan. 7, 2013)
Cheetahs explosive start fizzles as Avengers pull off upset!
In a much anticipated wild card game, the Milwaukee Avengers came back from a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Cheetahs by the score of 24-14. This loss marks yet another painful loss for the Cheetahs as they finished their last 7 games with a 3-4 record. Milwaukee's devastating defense held the Cheetahs in check from the second quarter on. For Milwaukee it is little time to celebrate as they now travel to Detroit to take on the number one seeded Foxes next Saturday evening. In both divisional games this season against the Foxes, the Avengers lost both by the scores of 38-24 in week 13, and 31-27 in week 17. (Jan. 6, 2013)
Myers and Hornets exit early at the hands of the Destroyers!
When Michael Myers re injured his knee on the Pittsburgh Hornets sixth play of the game, it quickly spelled doom for the Hornets as they were eliminated from the playoffs with a 24-9 loss to the Buffalo Destroyers. The defending Super Bowl champions were only able to come up with three field goals in the game. The Buffalo defense was outstanding as they held the Hornets to a combined total of 176 yards of total offense. The Destroyers will now take on the Boston Minute Men next Sunday evening. In week 5 the Destroyers defeated the Boston Minute Men in Buffalo by the score of 27-17. (Jan. 6, 2013)
Burners season extinguished by high power offense of the Rage!
The incredible season that brought the Tampa Bay Burners back to relevance is now over as the San Diego Rage put on a dominating offensive performance on Saturday night in their 24-10 victory over Tampa Bay. The Burners started the game with an impressive first possession that gave them the 3-0 lead, however, the Burners did not score again until 1:18 remaining in the game. Nathaniel Roberts threw the ball for a touchdown, and 286 yards. The Rage will now take on the Houston Hybrids next Saturday night in Houston. Houston defeated the Rage in week 8 by the score of 31-6 in Houston. (Jan. 5, 2013)
Talons flex their defensive muscle as they eliminate Bandits!
The wild card weekend opened up on Saturday with a defensive struggle that ended up going to the Washington Talons with a 19-13 victory over the Indianapolis Bandits. The Bandits usually sure fire offense struggled to get going due to a very tough Talons defense. The lone touchdown for the Bandits was an interception return by Bernard Lewis. Both team's defenses were firing on all cylinders. Jacob Daniels had four tackles, and two sacks for Indianapolis. Jevon Jones was limited to 66 yards. The Talons will next week go to either the one seeded Detroit Foxes or the two seeded Colorado Demons. (Jan. 5, 2013)
Philadelphia Crows name Ric Armstrong as team's new head coach!
On Thursday, the Philadelphia Crows announced that they have hired former Tennessee Jackals head coach Ric Armstrong as the franchise's new head coach. Armstrong was fired a few weeks ago as the Jackals head coach, following eight seasons in Tennessee, where he delivered a Super Bowl title to the franchise. Following his hiring, Armstrong immediately announcing that he has named his brother Larry Armstrong, who was fired on Monday as the head coach of Cincinnati, as the team's defensive coordinator. He also named longtime Miami head coach Gary Seansbury as the offensive coordinator. (Jan. 3, 2013)
Jackals make it official and promote Bernett to head coach!
After a few weeks as the team's interim head coach, today the Tennessee Jackals made it official as they promoted Greg Bernett to the team's head coaching position. Bernett had served as the team's defensive coordinator from 2008 through this season when he was called upon to temporarily replace fired head coach Ric Armstrong a few weeks ago. Before his time as defensive coordinator, Bernett served as the team's defensive line coach from 2005-2007. Under Bernett, the Jackals finished with a 1-1 record the last two weeks. Annual award winners announced by the league for 2012 season!
On Wednesday the league announced the annual award winners. The league mvp was awarded for the third time in four seasons to a member of the Detroit Foxes as Elroy Johnson took home the award. The offensive player of the year was awarded to Boston's Vance Becker. The defensive player of the year was awarded to Houston's Jebediah Bloom. The offensive rookie of the year was awarded to Indianapolis' Jevon Jones, while Arizona's Keenan Tulofa won defensive rookie of the year. Eric Sierra was named surprise player of the year, while Buffalo's Gordan Charles won coach of the year. (Jan. 2, 2013)
Black Monday claims the coaching positions of three teams!
The Monday following the end of the regular season is known as "Black Monday" due to the firing of head coaches around the league, and this year saw a record in firings. Among the firings were Larry Armstrong in Cincinnati, Gary Seansbury in Miami, and Kirk Alfredson in Chicago. Their names are added to the firings of Ric Armstrong in Tennessee, and Mike Charles in Philadelphia. As of right now, there have been no rumors as to new candidates for any of the current open positions. Of course, due to league rules, a team may not hire a coordinator from a team currently in the playoffs. (Dec. 31, 2012)
Weekly award winners announced for week 17 of the season!
On Monday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 17 of the season as the offensive player of the week was awarded to the Houston Hybrids running back Andre Duncan who ran the ball for 181 yards in the Hybrids victory over Miami that helped them secure a first round bye in the playoffs. The defensive player of the week was awarded to the Houston Hybrids defensive end Jebediah Bloom who recorded four sacks, and a fumble recovery. The rookie of the week was awarded to the Arizona Scorchers defensive end Keenan Tulofa who had three sacks against the Colorado Demons. (Dec. 31, 2012)

After a long regular season, the 2012 AFL playoffs are officially set. In the NFC the Detroit Foxes and Colorado Demons hold the byes, while the Boston Minute Men and Houston Hybrids hold the AFC byes. The wild card weekend beings on Saturday evening when the Washington Talons will host the Indianapolis Bandits. Following that game on Saturday night, the San Diego Rage will host the Tampa Bay Burners. Then, Sunday afternoon will see the Buffalo Destroyers host the defending champion Pittsburgh Hornets. Bandits secure franchise's first ever trip to the playoffs!
After an offseason that saw the Indianapolis Bandits finish a horrendous 1-15 regular season in 2011, lose their top wide receiver in free agency, lose several key members on defense to free agency, trade their disgruntle quarterback for a journey man, and trade their all pro running back for an unproven rookie, but despite all of that, the Bandits punched in their first ever ticket to the playoffs with a 24-19 victory over the Chicago Enforcers. With the win, and Milwaukee's loss on Thursday, the Bandits finish second in the NFC North, and are the five seed in the NFC playoffs. (Dec. 30, 2012)
Crows waste no time firing longtime head coach Mike Charles!
On Sunday morning, following the team's 21-3 loss to the New York Empires on Saturday night, the Philadelphia Crows have fired head coach Mike Charles. Charles has been the head coach of the Crows since 2008. During his tenure in Philadelphia Charles has coached the Crows to two straight division titles, and appearances in the NFC championship game. Before coming to Philadelphia, Charles was the offensive coordinator of the Brooklyn-New York Dukes from 2002-2007. The Crows are expected to move swift in hiring a new head coach, as reportedly they have a top name in mind for head coach. (Dec. 30, 2012)
Boston Minute Men secure the top seed in the AFC playoffs!
With their 24-17 victory on Saturday afternoon over the Brooklyn-New York Dukes, the Boston Minute Men have clinched the number one seed in the AFC playoffs. Boston finishes the regular season with a 13-3 record. The other bye in the AFC playoffs belongs to the Houston Hybrids by way of their conference record tie-breaker over Buffalo, even if Buffalo wins against the Minnesota Defenders on Sunday to finish tied with Houston. The three and four seeds will go to San Diego and Buffalo. The final two wild card spots will go to either Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, or California. (Dec. 29, 2012)
Hybrids clinch a bye in the playoffs with win over Miami!
With their 27-7 victory on Friday night over the Miami Atlantics, the Houston Hybrids have clinched one of the two bye's in the AFC playoffs. Houston finished the regular season for the second straight season with a 12-4 record. If Boston loses Saturday against the Brooklyn-New York Dukes, and then Buffalo wins on Sunday against the Minnesota Defenders, then the Hybrids will clinch the number one seed in the AFC playoffs with the better conference record of 11-1. However, with a Boston Minute Men win on Saturday, the Hybrids are guaranteed the number two seed in the AFC playoffs. (Dec. 28, 2012)
Detroit Foxes go 15-1 for second straight regular season!
Last season, the Detroit Foxes set the record for the best regular season record in league history when they defeated the Indianapolis Bandits to finish the regular season 15-1, and now, one year later, on Thursday night, the Foxes defeated the Milwaukee Avengers by the score of 31-27 to again finish the season with a 15-1 record. Detroit's lone loss this season was in week 10 when they lost 38-34 at home to the New Orleans Voodoo. The Foxes head into the playoffs for the eleventh straight time as the number one seed in the NFC. The Foxes finished with a 6-0 divisional record. (Dec. 27, 2012)
League announces complete Pro Bowl rosters for AFC and NFC!
On Wednesday, the league announced the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and the NFC. The Pro Bowl will be played the week after the Super Bowl, in Hawaii. The quarterbacks for the NFC are Travis Colin, Douglas Knotts, and Richard Adams, while the running backs will be Elroy Johnson, Jevon Jones, and Chadsey Evans. The AFC quarterbacks will be Vance Becker, Harold Stokes, and Nathaniel Roberts, while the running backs will be Marvin Horner, Eric Sierra, and Gerald Smith. Weekly award winners announced for week 16 of the season!
On Wednesday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 16 of the season as the weekly awards were completely swept up by members of the Seattle Storm. Quarterback Brandon Morris, who threw for 476 yards, and ran for another 81 yards, won both the offensive player of the week award, as well as the rookie of the week award. Second year safety Marcus Lamb who had three interceptions, and returned two of those interceptions for defensive touchdowns won the defensive player of the week award as the Storm shutout the New York Empires by the impressive score of 56-0. Cougars defeat the Voodoo in annual Christmas Eve classic!
In the league's annual Christmas Eve classic game, it was a hard fought game that saw the Dallas Cougars defeat the New Orleans Voodoo by the score of 31-28. Neither team had much to play for as both teams were eliminated from any chance of making the playoffs, however, both teams put on a display of pure athleticism and talent. The loss now drops the Voodoo to 6-9 for the season, and secured them a losing season following their 2011 season that saw them in the Super Bowl. Dallas will host the Seattle Storm next Sunday night in the final regular season game of the 2012 season. (Dec. 24, 2012)
Destroyers win division with Hornets loss to Minute Men!
With the 26-17 loss to the Boston Minute Men, the Pittsburgh Hornets lost their bid to win the AFC North, as the Buffalo Destroyers clinched their first division title in franchise history. The win was helpful for Boston, who now currently holds the number one seed in the AFC playoff picture. A win next Saturday at the Brooklyn-New York Dukes will secure home field throughout the AFC playoffs. For Pittsburgh, the loss drops them from a guaranteed playoff spot, the being in the middle of a four team race for the final two spots. The Hornets will take on the Cincinnati Frawgs next week. Cutthroats keep very slim playoff hopes alive with win!
A few weeks ago, it looked like there was no chance for the Carolina Cutthroats to make it to their first playoffs since 2008, however, riding a three game win streak, the Cutthroats kept their hopes alive with a narrow 17-14 win over the Kansas City Carnivores. For Carolina to make the playoffs, they need to win next week against the 11-4 Cheetahs in Atlanta, and hope that the Indianapolis Bandits lose at home to the 1-14 Chicago Enforcers. Also making it extra tough for the Cutthroats' playoff hopes is the fact that Atlanta will be playing for a chance at a first round bye. (Dec. 23, 2012)
Talons victory over Crows secures NFC East division title!
With their 27-10 victory on Sunday against the Philadelphia Crows, the Washington Talons won their first division title since 2008 as they claimed the NFC East championship. Washington can still technically finish tied with the New York Empires following next week, however, with a better division record, the Talons hold the tie-breaker. Washington has secured the number four seed in the NFC playoff picture. If the playoffs started today, the Talons would be hosting the number five seed, the Milwaukee Avengers. Washington will travel to Cleveland next week to face the Commandos. (Dec. 23, 2012)
Jackals defeat the Frawgs in Greg Bernett's coaching debut!
The Tennessee Jackals haven't had much to cheer for this season, and apparently this will mark an offseason filled with much change to the franchise, however, on Saturday night, the Jackals' fans had a lot to cheer for as the Jackals went on to defeat the Cincinnati Frawgs by the score of 28-24 in Greg Bernett's debut as the team's interim head coach. The team fired long time head coach Ric Armstrong on Tuesday. The Jackals will now finish the season next Saturday at Baltimore. As for the Frawgs, they wrap up the season next Sunday at home against the defending champion Copperheads. (Dec. 22, 2012)
Storm deal Empires huge playoff blow with strong defense!
On Thursday night the Seattle Storm put on a defensive performance for the ages as they had six interceptions, and returned four of them for touchdowns in their 56-0 shutout win over the New York Empires. Especially strong was second year safety Marcus Lamb who had two of those defensive touchdowns. The loss was incredibly crushing for the Empires since they are nearing elimination form the playoffs. A win by the Washington Talons on Sunday would secure themselves the NFC East. As for the wild cards, if Indianapolis and Milwaukee both win, then New York is out of the playoffs. (Dec. 20, 2012)

After almost 8 full seasons, 5 playoff appearances, 3 trips to the AFC championship game, 2 conference titles, and 1 Super Bowl championship, Ric Armstrong was fired on Tuesday as the head coach of the Tennessee Jackals. Armstrong has turned the Jackals franchise into a top quality franchise, however, failure to acquire younger players has led the Jackals to a very disappointing 4-10 record this season. To top that, the team has put together rather disappointing statistics on both offense and defense. Defensive coordinator Greg Bernett has been named as the team's interim head coach. (Dec. 18, 2012)

Copperheads end the Dragons hopes of winning the AFC West!
With their 20-17 loss on Monday night to the Pittsburgh Copperheads, the California Dragons have now been eliminated from winning the AFC West, and are now one loss from not even making the playoffs. For the Copperheads, the win was of vital importance for their slim hopes of winning the AFC North from the Buffalo Destroyers. Avengers thrive as the Empires fail to claim first place!
With a golden opportunity to take sole possession of first place in the NFC East, the New York Empires failed to do just that as they lost 31-20 to the Milwaukee Avengers. The loss means that the Washington Talons and Empires remain tied in first place of the division, however, the Talons currently hold the tie-breaker over the Empires with the better divisional record. For Milwaukee the win was huge as it keeps them firmly in the chase for one of the final two playoff spots in the NFC. Classic overtime showdown in Seattle goes to the Cheetahs!
In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Atlanta Cheetahs defeated the Seattle Storm in overtime by the score of 27-24 on Sunday evening. The Cheetahs scored a Deedrich Maples seventeen yard touchdown with 27 second remaining to tie the game at 24 and force overtime. The overtime saw a classic back and forth battle that ended with an Atlanta field goal with 1:19 left in the overtime period. The loss now drops the Storm to 7-7 with games remaining against both the New York Empires this Thursday night, and the Dallas Cougars in the season's final Sunday night game. (Dec. 16, 2012)
Elroy Johnson gets over two thousand yards in Foxes victory!
With history within reach, Elroy Johnson ran the ball for 115 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against his former team as he became only the third player in league history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season, as the Detroit Foxes defeated the Indianapolis Bandits by the score of 28-13. Following today's game, Johnson is at 2,056 yards for the season, and is within reach of the all time rushing yards per season record which is at 2,115 yards. The Foxes have two games left as they host the Tampa Bay Burners next week, and the Milwaukee Avengers the Thursday following Christmas. (Dec. 16, 2012)
Cutthroats deal crushing blow to playoff chances for Voodoo!
For the New Orleans Voodoo, Saturday night featured an exciting game that came down to the wire, however, the final result was not what they wanted as they left the field with a 38-34 loss to division their rival the Carolina Cutthroats. The New Orleans Voodoo defense was horrible as they allowed a record day for Carolina quarterback Brandall Cuttliff who threw for 447 yards, and ran for 113 yards. Carolina also had a big game from wide receiver Otis Glendale who had two touchdowns, and caught the ball for 252 yards. The loss now gives New Orleans an 0-5 division record this season. Cougars playoff hopes diminish with fifth straight loss!
The Dallas Cougars came into this season with high hopes of reaching the playoffs and possibly winning their first division title since 2009, however, last week it was the Colorado Demons who claimed the NFC West, and now with their 34-9 loss on Thursday night to the Boston Minute Men, the Cougars are now on the brink of elimination from making the playoffs. For the Cougars to mathematically be eliminated, it will only take one more win by New York, Indianapolis, and Washington. On Tuesday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 14 of the season as the offensive player of the week was awarded to Colorado quarterback Sylvester James as he threw the ball for 433 yards and four touchdowns, and ran the ball for 179 yards and two touchdowns as the Demons clinched the NFC West. Colorado cornerback Brandon Duuckoy was also named the defensive player of the week in the Demons 58-0 win over Arizona. For the second straight week the rookie of the week was awarded to new Orleans tight end Jordan White who had 124 receiving yards, and a touchdown. (Dec. 11, 2012)
Hybrids late season collapse continues with loss to Foxes!
Last season the Houston Hybrids suffered a huge late season collapse that resulted in them dropping from the number one seed to the number four seed, and this year is shaping up to be the same. On Monday night, on a last second 27 yard touchdown pass by Douglas Knotts to Clayton Cummings, the Houston Hybrids lost a close heartbreaking 24-20 game to the Detroit Foxes. A few short weeks ago, Houston was secure as the AFC number one seed, and now, the Hybrids are in a three way tie for that number one seed. Cougars in deep trouble after heartbreaking loss to Storm!
The Dallas Cougars playoff chances were dealt a serious blow on Sunday night with their 30-27 loss to the Seattle Storm. The loss now drops the Cougars to 6-7 for the season, and are one loss away from being eliminated from the playoff picture. The Cougars have now also dropped to third place in the NFC West. For Seattle, the win was huge as it has now pulled them to one game behind both New York, and Indianapolis for one of the final two wild card spots in the playoffs. After a busy offseason of building, and putting a competitive team together, and a season of surprises, the Colorado Demons clinched the NFC West division title with their 58-0 victory over the Arizona Scorchers on Sunday evening. Sylvester James had the best game of his career as he threw the ball for 433 yards and four touchdowns, and ran the ball for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Patrick Allen had another huge game as he had three touchdowns, and 189 receiving yards. The Demons currently have a one game lead over Atlanta for the number two seed in the NFC playoff picture. Destroyers winning streak destroyed by the surging Voodoo!
After a disastrous start to the season, the New Orleans Voodoo have surged back to a 6-7 record with their 26-17 victory over the Buffalo Destroyers. The win by the Voodoo has ended the current eight game winning streak that the Destroyers had going into this game. The win helped keep the playoff hopes alive for the Voodoo, however, they need to win out and hope that several other teams lose a few games. For Buffalo, the win would have pulled them a half game from the franchise's first division title. Buffalo will travel to Baltimore next week to take on the 8-5 Vengeance. (Dec. 9, 2012)
Huge offensive game propels the Minute Men to key victory!
With the Baltimore Vengeance breathing down their neck, the Boston Minute Men gave an offensive performance that set franchise records on Saturday night with their 27-13 win over the Tennessee Jackals. Although their red zone offense wasn't that impressive, several offensive players for Boston had the career performances. Vance Becker passed for 508 yards, while rookie tight end Brian Lee caught had 244 receiving yards. Gerald Smith was also very impressive as he ran the ball for 193 yards, and had 82 receiving yards. Myers return sparks Copperheads past the streaky Cheetahs!
One month ago, the Atlanta Cheetahs were on pace for the franchise's best record, now they have lost three of their last six games with their 35-31 loss at Pittsburgh against the Copperheads on Thursday night. Pittsburgh went into the game with a three game losing streak, however, the return of Michael Myers helped spark the Copperheads to a much needed victory to keep pace in the AFC playoff picture. The win now pulls the Copperheads only two and a half games behind Buffalo for first place in the AFC North. The loss now drops Atlanta a half game behind Colorado in the NFC playoff picture. Just one year ago, the Pittsburgh Copperheads began their strong push towards the franchise's first Super Bowl title, and now one year later, the Copperheads didn't have their starting quarterback, two members of their vaunted defensive line, and are now in serious danger of not even making the playoffs following their 35-17 loss at home against the very team they defeated in last year's Super Bowl, the New Orleans Voodoo. For second straight week Minute Men take down a top team!
Last week the Boston Minute Men took down the Houston Hybrids, and this week it was the California Dragons with the Minute Men's 28-13 win at home over the Dragons. The win keeps Boston one game behind both Buffalo and Houston for the top two teams in the AFC playoff picture. If the season ended today, Boston would be the three seed and would host the sixth seeded Dragons. The loss now drops the Dragons from the fourth seed, and from a tie for first place in the AFC West, to one game behind the San Diego Rage for the division lead. Cheetahs defeat Demons in battle for playoff positioning!
As the Detroit Foxes currently hold the number one seed in the NFC playoff picture, the Atlanta Cheetahs and Colorado Demons took to the field on Sunday evening to see who would take control of the current number two seed in the NFC. Following a hard fought 60 minutes, it was the Atlanta Cheetahs who walked away with a 34-27 victory and their the number two seed for right now. The Cheetahs This win gives the Cheetahs the tie-breaker over the Demons. The win also secured the NFC South division title for the Atlanta Cheetahs. Narrow win is enough for Crows to end their losing streak!
The long, grueling, nightmarish losing streak has finally come to an end as the Philadelphia Crows defeated the Chicago Enforcers by the tight score of 14-13 on Sunday afternoon. Ryan Gable's 343 passing yards were not enough for Chicago as Sean Rubik drove the Crows 72 yards downfield on the game's final drive to get a win with a 37 yard run by Kelvin Diggs to the one yard line, followed by a Sean Rubik leap over the top to get the game winning touchdown. Diggs had a strong game with 118 rushing yards. The Crows will next week travel to Carolina to take on the 5-7 Cutthroats. (Dec. 2, 2012)
Ugly win is still a win as the Rage take the division lead!
With their, at times ugly 14-10 win over the St. Louis Speed on Saturday night, the San Diego Rage have now taken a half game lead over the California Dragons in the AFC West. The game was by far not the best that San Diego had displayed this season, however, a crucial touchdown pass by Nathaniel Roberts with 5:18 remaining in the game was all that San Diego needed to hold on to the victory. The Rage will now sit and wait to see what California will do as they are at Boston on Sunday night. The Dragons hold the tie-breaker over San Diego having won both games in the season series. Historic night as Foxes win 13th straight division title!
It was indeed a historic night as the Detroit Foxes defeated the Milwaukee Avengers in Milwaukee by the score of 38-24 to clinch the NFC North, and secure their 13th straight division title. Last season, the Foxes tied the 2003 St. Louis speed with their 12th straight division titles, however that record was broken on Thursday night. The last season the Foxes did not win their division was in 1999. Although the NFC North has been clinched Detroit is still looking to secure their eleventh straight number one seed in the NFC playoff picture. They lead Colorado by a game and a half. The defensive player of the week was awarded to Detroit Foxes cornerback Donatello Harris who had 3 interceptions, and returned 2 of them for touchdowns in the Foxes 54-6 victory over Miami. Dukes go field goal happy in tight win over Copperheads!
It might not have been a pretty game, but the Brooklyn-New York Dukes did walk away with their second straight win, and have kept their slim playoff hopes alive with their 9-7 victory on Monday night against that Pittsburgh Copperheads. The Copperheads, who were playing without starting quarterback Michael Myers had a horrific time on offense. The Dukes limited the Copperheads to only 213 combined yards for the game. The Copperheads only score came from a Ben Toker interception in the first quarter that was ran back 62 yards. The Dukes are now 3 games back from Boston in the division. (Nov. 26, 2012)
Rage move back into first place by emrassing the Crows!
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Philadelphia Crows as they have now lost their seventh game in a row as the San Diego Rage defeated the Crows 30-10 on Sunday night. In addition to the loss, Crows running back Kelvin Diggs suffered a concussion and left with only 17 rushing yards for the game, and might in fact be ruled out for next week's game at home against the 1-10 Chicago Enforcers. For San Diego, the win puts them back in first place of the AFC West with the California Dragons. California holds the tie-breaker however, having won both regular season meetings. (Nov. 25, 2012)
Seattle storms back to defeat Vengeance in final seconds!
The third round rookie did it again for the Seattle Storm as Seattle came back to defeat the Baltimore Vengeance 31-27 in the game's final seconds. Trailing by three points with only fourteen seconds remaining, Brandon Morris rushed for 27 yards before leaping out of bounds at the two yard line with only three seconds remaining. Seattle then passed on a field goal to go for the win. After a fake leap over the middle by Chadsey Evans, Morris was easily able to march into the end zone to lead the Storm to victory. Despite haivng one of the best records in the league, and having plowed through several teams earlier in the season, the Atlanta Cheetahs have now lost two of their last three games following a 30-28 loss to the Washington Talons. For Washington, the win now keeps them in first place of the NFC East with a narrow one game lead over the New York Empires. In an epic battle for AFC seeding the Boston Minute Men easily handles the Houston Hybrids with a 42-24 victory on Saturday night. The loss now drops the Houston Hybrids to 9-2 and only a game and a half ahead of the Tampa Bay Burners for first place in the AFC South. With the win, the Minute Men have improved to 8-3 and currently hold a game a half lead in the AFC East over the Baltimore Vengeance. Empires defense holds strong in close win over Dragons!
In a renewal of one of the most classic rivalries in league history, the New York Empires came out victorious with a 28-27 win over the California Dragons. With 2:14 left in the fourth quarter, Shawn Benjamin hit Desmond Brookens with a 32 yard touchdown to take a one point lead. The Dragons went down field one the last drive and found themselves within a few yards from field goal range when Brad Austin sacked Jeff Crowley for a 17 yard loss. The next play was an incomplete pass knocked down by Josh Hertner, intended for Antonio Freemont to solidify the win for the Empires. (Nov. 22, 2012)

Thanksgiving has not been kind to the Dallas Cougars as of late as the Milwaukee Avengers handed the Cougars their third straight Thanksgiving Day loss. The 35-17 loss by the Cougars marked their second straight loss. The Cougars last Thanksgiving Day win was in 2009 when they defeated the Houston Hybrids by the score of 32-27. With the loss, the Cougars now drop in the NFC West standings to two and a half games behind the Colorado Demons who are hosting the 8-2 Atlanta Cheetahs. Atlantics suffer most emrassing loss in franchise history!
Over the long history of the Miami Atlantics, the franchise has never suffered such a loss as they did on Thanksgiving 2012 as they were defeated 54-6 by the Detroit Foxes. On offense it was the first game that saw one team have three receivers go for more than 100 yards receiving each. Elroy Johnson not only rushed for 181 yards, but also threw a touchdown pass that went for 81 yards to tight end Eugene Lockhart. Even though each of their playoff hopes were slim, the New Orleans Voodoo and Carolina Cutthroats came into play on Monday night with the exact same records, and plans to try their hardest to reach the postseason, however, in the end, it was the Cutthroats who came away victorious with a 27-24 win. Brandall Cuttliff had an career game as he threw for just over 300 yards, and ran the ball exceptionally well with his 118 rushing yards. Hybrids escape with a close victory in last seconds!
On Sunday night the Houston Hybrids narrowly escaped Miami with a 28-27 victory over the Atlantics. The Hybrids were trailing 27-21 with 1:31 remaining in the game when Houston quarterback Harold Stokes put on a drive for the ages as he completed seven straight passes and 18 of his last 19 to score a touchdown in the games final seconds on a drive that started from their own two and a half line. The loss came as another crucial blow for the Atlantics who now drop to 2-8 for the season and will have their first non-winning season since they finished 7-9 in the 2007 season. (Nov. 18, 2012)
Cougars late game collapse costs them against Demons!
The Dallas Cougars enjoyed an almost perfect first half to their game on Sunday against the Colorado Demons, however, the second half was a different story as the Demons defeated the Cougars by the score of 23-13. The Cougars started the game with an impressive 13-0 lead, which quickly was dissolved due in large part to Colorado quarterback Sylvester James who threw for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown, and had 319 passing yards, as well as 42 rushing yards. Talons embarass the Crows to extend lead in division!
Just as unbelievable as the Philadelphia Crows losing streak has been this season, has been the Washington Talons emergence as a possible playoff team, and that was well on display Sunday as the Talons easily defeated the Crows by the score of 54-9. This loss is the sixth straight for the Crows, and marks their longest losing streak since 2004. With the win, and the New York empires loss to the Cleveland Commandos, the Talons now enjoy a full one game lead over the Empires in the NFC East. Dragons narrowly edge out Rage to take division lead!
Last season, and so far this season the California Dragons and San Diego Rage have gone back and forth with the division lead in the AFC West, however, on Thursday night, the Dragons jumped out to a one game lead over the Rage with a 24-20 victory at San Diego. The two teams have been tied on top of the division for weeks with both teams winning and losing the same weeks as each other. The Dragons now hold the tie-breaker having swept the season series over San Diego. The Dragons will now host New York on Thursday night, while the Rage will take on St. Louis on Saturday night. The Philadelphia Crows must feel like they are living in a nightmare as they have now dropped their fifth straight game of the season with a 21-17 loss at home to the Dallas Cougars. The loss now drops the Crows to 3-6 for the season. The good news however, is that with the New York Empires losing their last two games, the Crows are only two games out of first place in the NFC East. Danny Peachtree threw for a touchdown, and 330 passing yards. The Crows next game will be at Washington, against the 5-3 division leading Talons. Philadelphia currently sits in last place. Voodoo end the Foxes perfect season with thrilling win!
In one of the most thrilling games of this season, the New Orleans Voodoo did exactly what they did last year in the NFC Championship game, and that was to march right into Detroit, and defeat the Foxes. The 38-34 loss was Detroit's first loss of the season. Detroit had a last second chance at victory, however, the 27 yard pass was deflected in the end zone. The loss now gives Detroit a three game lead in the NFC North over both the Indianapolis Bandits and the Milwaukee Avengers, both of whom won on Sunday. It has become a season on unrest for the New York Empires, as they have now dropped two games in a row, and have fallen into a tie for first place in the NFC East due to their 26-10 loss at home to the Washington Talons. Scorchers win with late game rally over the Cheetahs!
The Atlanta Cheetahs were off to their best start in franchise history, and against the 3-5 Arizona Scorchers, the Cheetahs were looking to expand on their record, however, an incredible late game rally forced overtime, and then saw the Scorchers kick a field goal late into overtime to defeat the Cheetahs by the score of 23-20. After a Deedrich Maple touchdown, the Scorchers drove 92 yards down the field in 1:43 to force overtime with a 38 yard Devin Youngblood touchdown. The loss now drops the Cheetahs to 7-2, and in a tie with Colorado for second best record in the NFC. (Nov. 11, 2012)
The Minute Men offense way too much for Jackals defense!
It has been a rough season thus far for the Tennessee Jackals and that just came out to the forefront on Thursday in their 41-10 loss at home to the Boston Minute Men. The once tough Jackal defense has quickly turned into the league's 27th worst defense this season. Boston was able to put up their 41 points with the help of Vance Becker who threw for 412 passing yards, and two touchdowns, and from Gerald Smith who also had two touchdowns, and ran for 192 rushing yards. Foxes stay perfect as Johnson runs over Empires!
The story of this game was not the rivalry between the two teams, and not even about the perfect record for the Detroit Foxes this season, and it wasn't even about the Foxes 35-17 victory over the New York Empires, but rather all the talk was about Elroy Johnson. After his two Monday night performances this season, it's no wonder why the rest of his team has nicknamed Elroy Johnson "Mr. Monday Night" as in his two Monday night games this year Elroy Johnson has rushed for a combined 560 yards with 246 yards on Monday night. Dukes offense fails to show up again in Baltimore!
The Brooklyn-New York Dukes offense continued with their struggles in a 26-9 loss to the Baltimore Vengeance. The Dukes offense combined for just 174 total yards in the game. As bad as a stat as that is, their red zone offense was completely horrible. The Dukes only managed three field goals in the game. To add to the mess, the tough defense that the Dukes were supposed to have going into the season allowed Karim Jordan to rush for 133 yards. The Dukes are at the bottom of the AFC East, and will now host the Buffalo Destroyers next week. Buffalo is tied atop the AFC North. (Nov. 4, 2012)
Demons edge Enforcers to take first place in division!
In what was a much tougher game than expected, the Colorado Demons held on at home to gain a 24-14 victory against the Chicago Enforcers. The win, coupled with Dallas losing to the Carolina Cutthroats, gives the Demons a one game lead in the NFC West. Sylvester James looked to be in top shape as he ran for a touchdown, threw for two touchdowns, and had 281 passing yards. Wyatt Morse had one of his best games as a member of the Demons with a touchdown, and 115 receiving yards. The Demons will travel to Seattle next week to take on the 4-4 Storm who are 2 games behind Colorado. (Nov. 4, 2012)
Cheetahs stay strong in close win over Carnivores!
It wasn't their usual blowout victory that they have enjoyed this year, however, the Atlanta Cheetahs did walk out of Kansas City with a hard fought 24-21 win over the Carnivores. Travis Colin had another good game as he threw for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown, and had 323 passing yards. Shaun White was impressive again with his 114 rushing yards. Tight end Brian Curtis had two big plays where he forced his way through several players on both occasions to force key first downs to help secure the win for Atlanta. The Cheetahs will now host the Arizona Scorchers next week. (Nov. 4, 2012)
Avengers extend Crows losing streak to four straight!
The Philadelphia Crows started this season with high hopes, however those hopes have now been dashed and turned into a nightmare as the Crows lost their fourth straight game as they were defeated by the Milwaukee Avengers by the score of 34-13. Richard Adams was just incredible against the Crows' defense as he threw for four touchdowns, and 360 passing yards. Ezekial Norton was the game's leading receiver with 127 yards, and a pair of touchdowns. The Crows now drop to two and a half games behind the division leading New York Empires, who will play Detroit on Monday night. (Nov. 1, 2012)
Weekly award winners announced for week 7 of the season!
On Tuesday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 7 of the season as the offensive player of the week was awarded to quarterback Richard Adams who threw the ball for three touchdowns, and 411 yards in Milwaukee's 34-0 win over Chicago. The defensive player of the week was awarded to Houston's Jameer Linus who had six tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown in Houston's 35-6 triumph over California. The rookie of the week went to the Voodoo tight end Jordan White who scored three touchdowns, and had 178 receiving yards in their first win. (Oct. 23, 2012)
Hybrids defeat Dragons to claim stake as top AFC team!
The top two teams in the AFC took the field on Monday night, and the Houston Hybrids left little doubt as to which team right now is the best in the conference with their 35-6 victory at California against the Dragons. Even though the Hybrids offense has been very impressive, it was the Houston defense that was the star of the game. Rookie safety Erin Sneed, and cornerback Jameer Linus both had two interceptions, and each returned one for a touchdown. The Hybrids now hold the best record in the AFC, and enjoy a two game lead over the Tampa Bay Burners in the AFC South division. (Oct. 22, 2012)
Empires win tough battle at home against the Rage!
In a Sunday night battle between to of the top teams in football, it was the New York Empires who came out on top in this slug fest with a 27-21 victory at home over the San Diego Rage. Shawn Benjamin didn't have his best throwing game, but his 253 passing yards, and two touchdowns were just enough to hold off the Rage. While San Diego focused on maintaining Benjamin, it was Dorrel Jackson who did the damage with his touchdown, and 128 rushing yards. The Empires now travel to Las Vegas for a Thursday game this week, in what is Benjamin's first regular season game back in Vegas. (Oct. 21, 2012)
Voodoo end their losing streak with win in Seattle!
After weeks of frustration the New Orleans Voodoo finally ended their five game losing streak on Sunday evening with a 34-17 victory in Seattle against the Storm. Darren McBride returned to form with an impressive 322 passing yards, while throwing for three touchdowns. The key player of the game for New Orleans was second round pick rookie tight end Jordan White who scored three touchdowns, and had 178 receiving yards. Marcus Blunt even outperformed Chadsey Evans as he ran the ball for 125 yards. At 1-5 the Voodoo now pull into a three way tie for second place in the NFC South. (Oct. 21, 2012)
Cheetahs continue impressive streak with win in Dallas!
The Atlanta Cheetahs were one of the hottest teams coming into the season with an impressive offseason filled with big moves, and they have proven just how good they are week after week, and they did it again on Sunday with a 31-10 win at home over the Dallas Cougars. Travis Colin had another huge game as he passed for two touchdowns, and 401 passing yards, as well as rushing for 41 yards, and a touchdown. Shaun White was also impressive as he ran the ball for a touchdown while racking up 107 rushing yards. Deedrich Maple had two touchdowns, and caught the ball for 140 receiving yards. (Oct. 21, 2012)

On Tuesday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 6 of the season as the offensive player of the week was awarded to running back Marvin Horner of the Buffalo Destroyers who ran for 189 rushing yards, and two touchdowns in their win over the Cincinnati Frawgs. The defensive player of the week was awarded to Seattle Storm cornerback Lucas Williams who had to interceptions returned for touchdowns in their win over Arizona. The rookie of the week went to Cleveland Commandos quarterback Shawn Carroll who was key in their overtime victory over the Philadelphia Crows. (Oct. 16, 2012)
Avengers break out of slump with dominating win in Miami!
With their playoff hopes shrinking each week, the Milwaukee Avengers have seemed to break out of their losing ways with a dominating performance on Monday night in Miami with a 27-14 victory over the Atlantics. Both Milwaukee and Miami had only one win this season, and if they had any hopes of competing for the playoffs, they were going to need a win, and Milwaukee rose to the occasion. The win now moves Milwaukee to a 2-3 record for this season, and only three games behind Detroit for first place in the NFC North. The Avengers will now host the 1-4 Chicago Enforcers this weekend. Demons crash down to reality at the hands of the Dukes!
The Colorado Demons have been one of the feel good stories of this season, however, they received a dose of reality on Sunday night by way of their 30-13 loss at the hands of the Brooklyn-New York Dukes. The loss now drops the Demons to a 4-2 record which now puts them a half game behind both Dallas, and Seattle for first place in the tough NFC West. The Demons are on a bye next week before traveling to Kansas City to take on the 1-5 Carnivores. For the Dukes, they are now one game behind Baltimore for first place in the AFC East as they will host the Vengeance this weekend. (Oct. 14, 2012)
Defense is key again for Seattle's victory over Arizona!
On Sunday evening, once again, the defense of the Seattle Storm proved once again why they are the number one ranked defense in the entire league as they had three defensive touchdowns in a 28-7 victory over the Arizona Scorchers. The mixture of talent on defense, along with rising and budding young stars on offense are why the Storm are 4-1 for the season. The Storm defense had four total interceptions, with two being returned for touchdowns by cornerback Lucas Williams, and also a forced fumble and recovery that was returned 63 yards by safety Jacob Wiggins for a touchdown. Crows lose huge lead and game in overtime to Commandos!
Everything was on track for a Philadelphia Crows blowout win as entering the fourth quarter, the Crows had a sixteen point lead, however, the Cleveland Commandos came back to force overtime, and eventually win in overtime by the score of 26-23. The Crows took possession to begin overtime, however, following three straight sacks, and a total loss of 34 yards, the Crows punted from the back of the endzone, and then watched as the Commandos marched down the field to victory. The devastating loss now puts the Crows a half game behind New York, and Washington for the lead in the NFC East. (Oct. 14, 2012)

On Tuesday, the league announced the weekly award winners for week 5 of the season as the offensive player of the week was awarded to Atlanta's wide receiver Deedrich Maple who scored four touchdowns, and had 247 receiving yards in the Cheetahs' 56-21 victory over New Orleans. The defensive player of the week was awarded to Buffalo's defensive end Martin Reed who sacked Boston's Vance Becker three times in the Destroyers' win. The rookie of the week was awarded to the Bandits' Jevon Jones who scored two touchdowns, and had 171 rushing yards in their win over the Crows. (Oct. 9, 2012)
Cheetahs drop the Voodoo to their fifth straight loss!
The tough season has just gotten a bit tougher as on Monday night, the Atlanta Cheetahs embarrassed the New Orleans Voodoo by the score of 56-21 to drop the Voodoo to 0-5 for the season. The defending NFC champions put up a good fight in the first quarter, however the night belonged to Travis Colin who threw the ball for five touchdowns, and had 447 passing yards. Shaun White ran for 119 rushing yards, and Deedrich Maple was the highlight of the game with four touchdowns, and 247 receiving yards. The Voodoo are on a bye next week before taking on the 3-1 Seattle Storm. (Oct. 8, 2012)
Jackals come up short on last play against Baltimore!
After trailing 17-0 going into the fourth quarter, the Tennessee Jackals came back to score 15 unanswered points, including a 43 yard hail mary as time expired to pull them within 2 from overtime. However, on the two point conversion, Monroe Johnson failed to reach the endzone, as the Baltimore Vengeance hung on to defeat the Jackals by the score of 17-15. Chad Hennipen was stellar with 284 passing yards, while Karim Jordan ran effectively as he scored two touchdowns, and ran for 101 yards. Baltimore now has sole possession of first place in the AFC East with a 3-2 record. (Oct. 7, 2012)
Mustangs way too overmatched in tough loss to San Diego!
The San Diego Rage have officially announced to the rest of the league that they are for real as they moved to 4-1 for the season with a dominating 28-3 victory over the Los Angeles Mustangs. Nathaniel Roberts had a phenomenal game as he threw for three touchdowns, and 351 yards. Manuel Cardinal was also very impressive as he ran the ball for 103 rushing yards, and caught the ball for 44 yards, and a touchdown. The Rage now have a half game lead over the California Dragons, who were on a bye this week. The Rage are on a bye next week while the Dragons will host the St. Louis Speed. (Oct. 7, 2012)
Jevon Jones and Bandits run away with victory over Crows!
In one of the biggest shockers of the season so far, rookie running back Jevon Jones almost single handedly lifted the Indianapolis Bandits from a 9-0 deficit at halftime to defeat the Philadelphia Crows by the score of 23-9 on Sunday. Jevon Jones ran the ball for two touchdowns, and had 171 rushing yards, as well as catching the ball for 72 receiving yards. The victory now moves the Bandits, who finished last season 1-15, to a 3-2 record for this season, and after a summer where they lost several key members of their team. The Carnivores weren't done, as rookie running back Jordan Morris won the rookie of the week award for his two touchdowns, and 209 rushing yards. The defensive player of the week was Baltimore rookie linebacker Khalil Kai who ripped the ball out of Gerald Smith's hand to help Baltimore defeat the Minute Men. (Oct. 2, 2012)
Special teams important in Crows victory over Empires!
In one of the game's top rivalries, the Philadelphia Crows drew first blood this season with a 19-17 victory over the New York Empires. The Crows marched down the field following a Dorrel Jackson 3 yard touchdown. The key point in the final drive was the 67 yard kick return by Trent Garland. The Crows also blocked 2 New York punts, and scored a safety during the contest. The loss now drops the Empires from first place in the NFC East, all the way to third place within the division, one game behind the Crows and Talons. Vengeance hand Minute Men a tough loss in last seconds!
On Sunday night, the Boston Minute Men felt they played well enough to win, however, in the last minute and a half, the Minute Men made two costly mistakes that handed the 23-17 win to the Baltimore Vengeance. Up by one point with 1:21 left, the Minute Men needed a first down on a 3rd & 1 to ice the game, however, while stretching his arms out with the ball for the first down, linebacker Khalil Kai ripped the ball out of Gerald Smith's hands. Then, Chad Hennipen threw a 43 yard pass that Owen Carter came down with, but was untouched as he got up and ran in the game winning score. (Sep. 30, 2012)
Demons hold off late surge by Storm to win in overtime!
The Colorado Demons looked unbeatable in the first half, however, in the second half they gave up a 17-0 lead to go into overtime. In overtime the Demons regained their composure to defeat the Seattle Storm 20-17. Sylvester James threw for a touchdown, and 271 passing yards, while also running for another touchdown, and 62 yards. Rookie wide receiver Patrick Allen had another good game as he caught a touchdown, and had 127 receiving yards. The Demons will travel to Carolina to take on the Cutthroats next week, while the Storm hit their bye week before playing the Scorchers. (Sep. 30, 2012)

The nightmare continues for the New Orleans Voodoo as the defending NFC champions dropped to 0-4 to open the season following their 41-27 beating at the hands of the Kansas City Carnivores. Kansas City was led on offense by quarterback Azriel Woodson who threw for 440 yards, and had two touchdowns. Rookie running back Jordan Morris was superb as he ran for two touchdowns, and 209 rushing yards. Daunte Griffin was the game's top receiver with 156 yards. Dragons suffer first loss of the season against Crows!
Monday night might have been an early season Super Bowl preview, and if it was are we in for a treat when these two teams get together again as the Philadelphia Crows defeated the California Dragons by the score of 28-21, in Philadelphia. The Crows, with the win now pull even in first place of the NFC East with both the New York Empires, and Washington Talons. The loss for the Dragons now pulls them down to a first place tie with each of the other three teams in the AFC West, as the Las Vegas Gamblers, Los Angeles Mustangs, and San Diego Rage all have a 2-1 record with the Dragons. Vengeance defeat Copperheads to get first win of season!
After the NFC champion New Orleans Voodoo dropped to 0-3 for the season, it was now time for the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Copperheads to drop to 1-2 for the season after their 21-17 to the hands of the Baltimore Vengeance. While the Copperheads lost their second game, it was the first win on the season for the Vengeance. Chad Hennipen had a great game as he threw for 369 passing yards, and had two touchdowns. David Tyrell had his coming out game for Baltimore since he was traded from Cincinnati, with a touchdown, 115 receiving yards, and two rushes for 36 yards. (Sep. 23, 2012)

Bandits impressive in thrilling overtime loss to Foxes!
In what many people assumed would be an easy win for the Detroit Foxes, their game on Sunday against the Indianapolis Bandits was anything but that, as they narrowly defeated the Bandits in overtime by the score of 44-41. The two teams just one week before the season began traded their star running backs, and in their first meeting it was Jevon Jones who rushed for more yards, as he had 139 rushing yards to 110 from Elroy Johnson. however, it still was Detroit who left Indianapolis with the victory, and a solid two game lead over the rest of the teams in the NFC North division. Jackals get measure of Super Bowl revenge over Cougars!
With their 20-10 victory on Monday, the Tennessee Jackals got a slight measure of revenge against the Dallas Cougars for defeating them in Super Bowl XXV. The Jackals were ;ed by Matt Grey who threw for a touchdown, and passed for 277 yards. Monroe Johnson looked impressive as he ran for a touchdown, and had 124 rushing yards. The two teams put on a memorable Super Bowl as the only Super Bowl to this day to go to overtime. Next Sunday, the Jackals will host the undefeated Seattle Storm, while the Cougars will travel to Brooklyn-New York to do battle with the one win Dukes team. (Sep. 17, 2012)

Hybrids very convincing in decisive win over Avengers!
The Milwaukee Avengers still are not an elite franchise as they lost on Sunday, at home to the Houston Hybrids by the score of 37-24. The Hybrids were led by Harold Stokes who threw 3 touchdowns, and passed for 348 yards. Andre Duncan had a pair of touchdowns as he ran for 116 yards. Cornelius Bennett was the game's top receiver with 82 receiving yards. The Avengers are now 0-2 for the season, with both losses occurring at home. The Indianapolis Bandits, the very team that had won only one game all of last season, defeated the New York Empires by the score of 31-27. Bruce Fisher finished the game at the top quarterback as he threw for 2 touchdowns, and 268 passing yards. Jevon Jones followed up his 148 rushing yards last week with another good game as he had combined for 133 yards, and a touchdown. Dorrel Jackson finished at the game's top rusher with 2 touchdowns, and 109 rushing yards. Elroy Johnson explosive as Foxes defeat the Crows!
Elroy Johnson was looking forward to his first Monday night game, and did he ever deliver as the Detroit Foxes defeated the Philadelphia Crows by the score of 38-24. Elroy Johnson finished the game with a record 314 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns. Johnson also had 33 receiving yards. The enormous help of the running game also helped Douglas Knotts who threw for a touchdown, and 341 passing yards. Eugene Lockhart had a touchdown, and 119 receiving yards. Sunday night saw last season's top two teams in the AFC West put on a terrific game where the California Dragons narrowly defeated the San Diego Rage by the score of 28-24. Jeff Crowley returned to glory with 3 touchdown passes, and 388 passing yards. Last year's offensive rookie of the year Delious Childs had 79 rushing yards, 114 receiving yards, and one rushing touchdown. Antonio Freemont finished with 2 touchdowns, 121 receiving yards, and 46 rushing yards. Cougars win in a thrilling game against the Demons!
The Dallas Cougars and Colorado Demons put on an impressive game on Sunday evening as the Cougars won by the score of 21-17. The Demons were driving late in the game when Sylvester James threw a low pass that was tipped by Lamar Johnson, and then intercepted by Ezekial Marion which secured the win for Dallas. Danny Peachtree threw for 3 touchdowns, and 337 passing yards. Cougars' rookie wide receiver Martin Turner had all three Dallas touchdowns, and caught the ball for 105 yards. The Washington Talons have a bright future, and that future was on display as the Talons defeated the Milwaukee Avengers by the score of 23-17. Third round pick Michael Young had an impressive game as he ran for a touchdown and 126 yards. As for the throwing game, fellow rookie Jayar Jackson caught a touchdown, and had 109 receiving yards. For the Avengers, rookie wide receiver Dabney Myron was the game's leading receiver with a touchdown, and 113 yards. Pierre Rodgers had two interceptions. Empires get revenge for elimination against the Voodoo!
On Saturday night, the defending NFC champions had there banner night ruined when they were defeated 30-24 by the very team they eliminated in last season's NFC divisional round, the New York Empires. The Voodoo had a very good offensive game, however, just like in Super Bowl XXVIII against the Pittsburgh Copperheads, the Voodoo defense came up short. Shawn Benjamin threw for two touchdowns and 241 yards, while running for 118 yards. Dorrel Jackson ran for 101 yards, and a touchdown. Hybrids play spoiler at Copperheads championship night!
The 2012 season started off with an overtime thriller as the Houston Hybrids defeated the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Copperheads by the score of 27-24. In overtime Houston's defense stood tall when they needed it as with Pittsburgh in field goal range, Jebediah Bloom sacked Michael Myers for a thirteen yard loss, and then that was followed by an interception by Daunell Dockery. Harold Stokes topped off a remarkable passing game with four straight passes to get Houston into field goal range. Bandits send Elroy Johnson to Foxes in blockbuster deal!
After being unhappy this entire training camp due to the new direction of the Indianapolis Bandits, Elroy Johnson has been traded to the Detroit Foxes. The Bandits will receive running back Jevon Jones (the sixth overall pick in this year's entry draft), linebacker Jacob Daniels, and Detroit's second, third, and fourth round picks in the 2013 draft. Along with Johnson, the Foxes also will receive the Bandits' second round pick in the 2013 draft. As a part of the deal, the Foxes signed Johnson to a contract extension through the 2018 season. Johnson was the second overall pick of the 2009 draft, out of Michigan State. (Aug. 29, 2012)
Hybrids trade Cuttliff to Cutthroats for Harold Stokes!
In an off season like no other with quarterbacks changing teams, just days before training camp starts, the Houston Hybrids and Carolina Cutthroats pulled off a huge trade involving each teams starting quarterback. The Hybrids sent Brandall Cuttliff to the Cutthroats in exchange for Harold Stokes, and Carolina's third round draft pick in the 2013 draft. Cuttliff agreed to a new three year contract extension with Carolina, keeping him under contract through the 2015 season. Both players had career seasons last year. Both players will be on hand Friday for the start of each of their new team's training camp. (Jul. 25, 2012)
Andre Pierce will remain in Kansas City with new contract!
The Kansas City Carnivores did not want to let Andrew Pierce test the free agency market following the 2012 season as they locked the wide receiver up with a brand new five year contract extension that will keep Pierce under contract to the Carnivores through the 2016 season. Pierce was acquired by the Carnivores during the 2010 season from the Cleveland Commandos. Pierce was a vital part of the Commandos 2008 team that went to the Super Bowl. Andrew Pierce along with Abraham Lincoln are one of the top receiving corps in the league. The Carnivores open the 2012 season at home against the Commandos. (Jul. 17, 2012)
Randy Cook gets three year extension from Philadelphia!
This Friday the 13th was very lucky for Randy Cook as he received a three year contract extension from the Philadelphia Crows. The star wide receiver was scheduled to become a free agent following the 2012 season. Randy Cook has emerged as one of the top receivers in the game today, and has helped lead the Crows to two division titles in the last three seasons. Cook had a pretty good season in 2011 despite the fact that the Crows finished the season with a 7-9 record, and failed to make the playoffs. Bandits trade Shane Flatts to Mustangs amidst complaints!
After an off season of secretive complaints to, and about the organization, the Indianapolis Bandits traded their quarterback Shane Flatts to the Los Angeles Mustangs for two first round draft picks. The Bandits receive the Mustangs first round draft picks in 2013, and 2014. Los Angeles will still have a first round pick in 2013 from the Brooklyn-New York Dukes for the Jake Turner trade. Flatts was the fourth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Indianapolis, out of Notre Dame. Shane Flatts missed the entire 2011 season due to injury. Detroit gives Douglas Knotts six year contract extension!
The Detroit Foxes didn't want to wait to lock up their star quarterback as they signed Douglas Knotts to a brand new six year contract extension that will keep the current league mvp under contract to Detroit through the 2019 season. Knotts was the first overall pick of the 2007 draft, by Detroit, out of USC. During his five years in the league, Knotts has won numerous awards including a Super Bowl ring, 2007 offensive rookie of the year, five trips to the Pro Bowl, 2009 Pro Bowl mvp, and both the 2009 and 2011 league mvp. Stacey King and Atlanta come to terms on new contract!
It has been a big off season for the Atlanta Cheetahs and the team just signed one of their key pieces for a very long time, as on Saturday, the Cheetahs came to terms on a new five year contract extension with cornerback Stacey King. King was due to become a free agent following the 2012 season. King was the seventeenth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Atlanta, out of Rutgers. Since entering the league, King has emerged as one of the top cornerbacks in the league, and is a two time Pro Bowl selection. Rederick Donahue inks new long term deal with Burners!
Early Saturday, the Tampa Bay Burners and their star middle linebacker Rederick Donahue agreed to a new contract extension that will keep Donahue under contract to the Burners through the 2017 season. Donahue was scheduled to become a free agent following the 2012 season. Donahue was the seventh overall pick of the 2007 draft, by the Burners, out of Penn State. His tenacious play in 2007 earned him the 2007 defensive rookie of the year award. During his entire five year career, Donahue has been named to the Pro Bowl. Minnesota Defenders trade Calahan, Johnson, and Haley!
The Minnesota Defenders had an extremely busy day as on Thursday they traded three key players to three different teams. They started the day by sending wide receiver Carey Calahan to the Las Vegas Gamblers for the Gamblers second and third round picks in the 2013 draft. Shortly after that trade, they sent cornerback Markus Haley to the Chicago Enforcers for Chicago's second round pick in 2013. Then, they followed that trade by sending wide receiver Guy Johnson to the Brooklyn-New York Dukes for the Dukes second round pick in 2013. This marks Johnson's second tenure with the Dukes. Copperheads give Michael Myers a new six year contract!
On Sunday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Copperheads rewarded Michael Myers, the quarterback that led them to a win in Super Bowl XXIX with a brand new six year contract extension that will keep him under contract to Pittsburgh through the 2018 season. Myers was the second overall pick of the 2007 draft, by the Copperheads, out of LSU. during his tenure with Pittsburgh, Myers has helped evolve the team into a championship team. The Copperheads finished the 2011 season with a 14-2 record, defeating New Orleans in Super Bowl XXIX. Pittsburgh opens the season at home against the Houston Hybrids. (Jun. 10, 2012)
Chadsey Evans signs seven year contract with Seattle!
Late into Saturday night, the Seattle Storm and their star running back Chadsey Evans both agreed to a new seven year contract that will keep the Pro Bowler under contract to the team through the 2019 season. Evans was the sixth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Seattle, out of Georgia Tech. In 2010 Evans won the league's rushing title as he ran for 1,753 yards, and also finished as the offensive player of the year. Evans has been a key piece in the Storm's success over the last few seasons as back to back NFC West champions. Evans finished seventh in rushing in 2011 with 1,594 rushing yards. (Jun. 3, 2012)
Jeff Crowley signs three year contract with Dragons!
On Monday, the California Dragons and Jeff Crowley agreed to terms on a brand new three year contract that will keep him under contract to the Dragons through the 2015 season. Crowley was the first overall selection of the 1998 draft, out of Florida, by the Detroit Foxes. Crowley was traded to California following the 2006 season, in which he won his fourth Super bowl title with Detroit. In his time with the Dragons, Crowley has seen the Dragons return to prominence as they won the AFC West title in the 2011 season. The Dragons open the 2012 season at home against San Diego. Kelvin Diggs gets new contract from Philadelphia!
For surviving his first complete season as a pro without any key injuries, the Philadelphia Crows rewarded running back Kelvin Diggs with a brand new five year contract. Diggs was a second round pick in the 2009 draft, by the Crows, out of Syracuse. Diggs has been plagued with key injuries during his entire career, which cost him to miss most of his first two seasons. Diggs finished the 2011 season with 1,533 rushing yards, and was the league's ninth top rusher. The Crows are now focusing on Randy Cook, Trent Garland, and Randy Martin, all of whom will become free agents next season. (May 27, 2012)
Kevin Kobb and Colorado finally agree on new deal!
Late into Saturday night, the Colorado Demons and their free agent guard Kevin Kobb agreed to a brand new five year contract. Kobb was the twenty-sixth overall pick of the 2007 draft, by the Demons, out of USC. Kobb is going to be relied on very heavily this season with the acquisitions of Adrian Thompson, Patrick Allen, Wyatt Morse, Denzel Phillips, and Joseph Hendricks. Colorado finished the 2011 season with a 9-7 record, and finished in third place of the NFC West. The Demons begin the 2012 season at home against the Dallas Cougars who were tied for first in the division. (May 27, 2012)
Detroit gives Wallace Poole a five year extension!
Amid rumors that wide receiver Wallace Poole was going to test free agency following this upcoming season, Poole shot down those rumors on Saturday when he agreed to a brand new five year contract extension with the Detroit Foxes. With the new deal, Poole will be under contract to the Foxes through the 2017 season. Poole was the twenty-eighth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by Detroit, out of Boston College. During his career Poole has been a vital part of the Detroit offense as he is paired with Clayton Cummings. Poole was a member of Detroit's 2009 Super Bowl winning team. (May 26, 2012)
Mustangs send Thompson to Demons for late round pick!
After days of trying to trade Adrian Thompson, the Los Angeles Mustangs finally got the deal done as they sent Thompson to the Colorado Demons in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in 2013. After drafting Duane Banks, Thompson demanded a trade, and reportedly, the Mustangs were close to finalizing a deal with the Washington Talons before it fell through. The Mustangs were also negotiating with the Arizona Scorchers. Thompson will be the featured back with the Demons. Colorado has made several big moves this offseason as they look to be a serious contender in the NFC West. (May 23, 2012)
Detroit adds Andrew Regis to an already lethel secondary!
Shortly after division rival Chicago made a splash with three big signings, the Detroit Foxes went out and added to an already deep and talented secondary when they signed Andrew Regis. Regis has spent his entire career in Los Angeles. Regis was the twenty-eighth overall pick of the 2007 draft, out of Florida State, by the Mustangs. While in Los Angeles Regis has put up solid numbers. In Detroit, Regis will be the team's number two cornerback, playing alongside current defensive player of the year Donatello Harris, and strong safety Andre Brown. DeShaun as well as Mimms and Marquis sign with Chicago!
The Chicago Enforcers made a big splash on Tuesday as they not only agreed to a three year deal with their tight end Ronald Marquis, and a new four year deal with their left tackle Robert Mimms, but the team also came to terms on a five year deal with defensive tackle Aryll DeShaun. DeShaun spent the last four seasons as a member of the tough Pittsburgh Copperheads defense. DeShaun had five sacks, and eight tackles in Pittsburgh's run to their Super Bowl title last season. The Enforcers are now focusing on re-signing guard B.J. Pindell who becomes a free agent following this season. (May 22, 2012)
Foxes, Copperheads, and Empires make big draft trades!
During the draft, there were three teams who made trades to move up in the draft. Detroit sent their first and fifth round picks (30th & 158th overall), Duane Jones, Oscar Lain, and Marvin Horner to Buffalo in exchange for the draft rights to running back Jevon Jones. New York sent their first round pick (27th overall), and first round pick in 2013 to Chicago in exchange for the draft rights for cornerback Zac Robinson, and 2013 third and fourth round picks. Pittsburgh sent their second round pick (64th overall), and first round pick in 2013 to New Orleans in return for the draft rights to tight end Kevin Kroger. (Apr. 26, 2012)
Frawgs make Thomas Kaye top pick with six year deal!
Just two days before the draft, the Cincinnati Frawgs made the top overall pick official as they signed Utah quarterback Thomas Kaye to a brand new six year contract. Kaye met the media in Cincinnati as a press conference on Tuesday where the team unveiled his jersey which Kaye will be wearing number "19" as a member of the Frawgs organization. The new deal will keep Kaye under contract to the Frawgs through the 2017 season. Kaye will be the key member of the Frawgs offense along with running back Curtis Redd, who was acquired from Baltimore. The Frawgs are without any other first round picks. (Apr. 24, 2012)
Miami Atlantics unveil team's new logo and jerseys!
Tuesday was a big day for the Miami Atlantics and the team's fans as the team unveiled their new logo. The logo remains the same with the exception of an orange sheild in the background, and a darker teal on the shark. The team's new colors are now dark teal, silver, and dark orange. The more "Floridian" colors were also on display in the team;s new jerseys, which were modeled by several key players from the team. The team also announced that for home games they will switch to the teal jerseys unless the weather is too hot. Miami currently holds the twenty-first pick in the AFL draft. (Apr. 17, 2012)
Jeffrey Grimes signs a four year deal with the Dukes!
On Tuesday, the Brooklyn-New York Dukes came to terms with their linebacker Jeffrey Grimes on a new four year contract that will keep him a member of the Dukes through the 2015 season. Grimes was the twenty-fourth overall pick of the 2007 draft, by the Dukes, out of Colorado. While a member of the Dukes organization, the Dukes have been a consistent top ten defense until this past season. The Dukes finished the 2011 season with a 10-6 record, and finished in second place in the AFC East. The Dukes are without a first round pick this year's draft due to the Jake Turner trade last season with Los Angeles. (Apr. 17, 2012)

The league announced the eleven guest draftees that will attend the draft in New York City and hear their name called by their future team in person. The players attending are; Thomas Kaye (QB-Utah), Shawn Carroll (QB-Toledo), Jajuan Daniels (QB--South Florida), Jevon Jones (RB-Missouri), Jordan Morris (RB-Pittsburgh), Jayar Jackson (WR-Fresno State), Ryan Ott (OT-Nebraska), Kirk Morrison (OT-Toledo), Zac Robinson (CB-Virginia Tech), Keenan Tulofa (DE-Oregon), and Neal Morris (DT-Pittsburgh). Rasheed Matthews remains a member of the Minute Men!
After many heated debates back and forth, Rasheed Matthews and the Boston Minute Men have agreed on a brand new four year deal that will keep Matthews in Boston. The free agent defensive tackle has been a key staple in the tough Minute Men defense for the last few years. Matthews was the twenty-fifth overall pick of the 2008 draft, by the Minute Men, out of Iowa State. Matthews was the team's leading tackler both of the last two seasons, and was named to the Pro Bowl.
